Hi, I'm Rita — the heart behind the cakes. Born in Portugal and raised surrounded by food and hospitality, I moved to England in 2015 with my family, and since 2017 we've proudly called Welling home.
Food has always been woven into my life. My family worked in hospitality and restaurants, so kitchens, homemade flavours, and family recipes felt completely natural growing up. While my parents were more connected to traditional food, I discovered my true passion was in baking cakes.
"What started as simple cakes for friends and family quickly became something much bigger."
My friends loved the soft Portuguese-style sponge cakes, the fresh homemade creams, and knowing everything was made from scratch with care. Soon they started asking me for birthdays and celebrations — then came friends of friends, and little by little, word spread naturally. That's how my homemade cake business was born.
Every cake I make is freshly prepared to order — never frozen, never mass-produced. All fillings, creams, and toppings are homemade by me, using quality ingredients made specially for each customer's taste and vision. I truly believe every cake should feel personal and unique.
One of my favourite things about baking is discovering flavours from different cultures and traditions. Over the years I've had the pleasure of making South African-inspired cakes like custard and caramel, as well as traditional Indian flavours such as Rasmalai, Gulab Jamun, and Rose Milk — which have become firm favourites among many of my customers.
Even when a customer asks for something completely different from what I'm used to, I love finding a way to bring their idea to life. For me, every cake is more than just a dessert — it's a creative challenge and a special part of someone's celebration.
I'm married, a proud mum of two, and incredibly grateful that something which started in my own kitchen has grown into a business loved by so many wonderful people. Thank you for supporting my small business and allowing me to be part of your special moments.
